The Gloucester Road WI CookbookIn 2013, member Katie Skuse (whilst biking along the fabulous Gloucester Road) had the idea of putting together a collection of recipes by the independent traders on the road and from our members to raise money for local charities. This resulted in us creating a fantastic full colour, 196 page, hardback cook book.

Being based in an area like Gloucester Road, we wanted to support the local traders, celebrate the diversity and show how amazing meals can be made from ingredients on our doorstep.

A project team was pulled together from members, comprising of a couple of project managers, a designer, photographer, writer, chef, publisher and some food enthusiasts.

We asked local traders to get involved by showcasing their recipes and members were asked to share their favourite recipes. As a result, the book is bursting with local and international influences. From British classics to Indian, Turkish and Swedish cooking, so the cookbook perfectly reflects the diverse Gloucester Road community.

We also asked local magazine Bishopston Matters to be our lead sponsor: Bishopston Matters

Income from the sales of the book went to local domestic abuse charity, Survive.
Our first print run sold out so we were able to produce a 2nd edition, and provide funds to other local community charities.
The Cookbook has now sold out and we do not currently have any plans to do a repeat print run.
